WANT FIND A GOOD CAR?

{ Posted on 3:50 PTG by manpower }

Just follow below step and you won’t go wrong

Step 1

Look at the car’s exterior. If the paint is new, ask when the car was painted. Beware of

cheap new details like $100 paint jobs. They often distract from larger problems such as

underlying rust.

Step 2

Check bumpers and wheel wells for signs of rust, dents or body filler. Then search the rest

of the vehicle for rust, remembering to scan the underside. Exterior rust may indicate more

in unseen areas.

Step 3

Inspect both sides of the car ‘as well as the front, rear and beneath’ for any signs of more

major body repair. Look for inconsistencies: Do the edges of the hood and door panels line

up with the fenders and other side panels? Does the frame look aligned correctly? Such

inconsistencies may be clues to previous wrecks.

Proton WIRA

{ Posted on 5:22 PTG by manpower }
The Proton Wira is a car manufactured by Malaysian carmaker Proton. Wira is a Malay word (derived from Sanskrit) that translates into English as "Hero".The Wira was intended as a newer alternative to the Proton Saga Iswara, a facelifted version of Proton's first model, the Proton Saga, as a flagship compact model for Proton. The Saga continued to receive minor updated until 2008, when a second generation Saga was introduced as a sub-compact model instead. The Wira was later planned to be replaced by two similar in-house designed Proton cars: The Proton Gen-2 (launched in 2003 to replace the "Aeroback" hatchback variant) and the Proton Persona (launched in 2007 to replace the saloon variant). The Proton Waja, a saloon compact, was also launched in 2001 as a earlier successor to the Wira saloon, but currently caters slightly towards more upmarket demand, below the Proton Perdana.PERFORMANCEIn its first series, a 1.3-litre 12-valve engine was available on basic-specification Wiras. The Mitsubishi 4G15 1.5-litre 12-valve engine used in the Iswara and its predecessor the Saga was carried over unchanged. The Mitsubishi 4G92 112 PS (110 hp/82 kW) 1.6L 16-valve SOHC engine with multi-point fuel injection was introduced together with an optional 4-speed automatic transmission (and power windows for all 4 doors), a first in Proton's history. The multi-point injection versions were badged as MPi, although this was only used on the engine, and never on the trim levels (unlike 1.5 MPi GLS in the previous car, the Saga, the trim levels were simply 1.5 GLS etc.).

Proton Persona

When a new national car is about to be launched, many will start to speculate on the name, and this is also the case with the new Proton sedan.
Word passing through the grapevines is that the new Proton sedan will be called the Proton Persona, and there was even a little photo being circulated of the sedan with the word Persona on it’s number plate.
Today we get a little confirmation - though not 100% sure as it is not from Proton’s mouth. The Edge carries an article on the new Proton Sedan and it calls the new car the Proton Persona. This name is not new, as it has been used by Proton in the past as the export market Proton Wira’s name in the UK.
The article also mentions Proton targets to sell about 4,000 units of the Proton persona a month, though industry analysts from RHB Research Institute thinks a figure of 2,000 to 2,500 Proton Personas a month is more achievable and sustainable

Perodua MYVI S.E

Buyers looking for a small, cheap car have plenty of choice these days. But one manufacturer is failing to register on the public radar: Perodua.Even though it has the distinction of selling the UK’s cheapest model, in the shape of the £4,792 Kelisa, the Malaysian brand hasn’t made any impact here. Can the new Myvi do better?It’s essentially a rebadged Daihatsu Sirion, and comes with an 86bhp 1.3-litre petrol engine. And at £7,799, it also represents a saving of more than £300 over its sister car.Other than a revised bonnet with extra detailing and Perodua badges, the Myvi is identical to the Daihastu. And that’s no bad thing. It’s similar in size to Nissan’s Micra, but looks bigger due to its MPV-style tall roof. The short nose is ideal when squeezing into tight spaces, with the near-vertical back screen making reversing easier.It feels very grown-up inside. Not only is the cabin practical, with an array of cubbies and cup-holders, but it looks good. The centre console is clearly laid-out, with the instrument binnacle featuring red-backed dials.

After Mazda in China and Suzuki in India it is Daihatsu's turn to announce that one of their cars will be sold on yet another asian market: Malaysia.One of their car and in particular a compact city car from a range generally known in Japan as "Kei-car".The Kei cars are small vehicles combining large interior space, excellent drivability and low fuel consumption but more details about this later.Probably to simply the integration of the Daihatsu VIVA (that's the name) on the local market, the Japanese manufacturer decided to collaborate with a Malaysian called "Perodua", as a result, the car will also be sold as the "Perodua VIVA" which may be more appealing .The potential clients will choose between 1 of the 3 DOHC engines (3 cylinders, 12 valves) featuring DVVT (Dynamic Variable Valve Timing) and EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection) systems.The price will start at 7.500$ and will top at 11.500$.

new proton MPV

{ Posted on 2:46 PTG by manpower }

After the New Saga had been launched, I believed many local (Malaysian) auto fans had shift their attention to the next model that will be launched by Proton, the Proton MPV. Until the date of this writing, there is still no spyshots or details information available on the internet for this model. But if you googled hard enough, there are bits and pieces here and there but most are based from hearsays. There was a reliable source, a blog owned by the chief designer of the new mpv himself. However about few days ago, he decided to block his blog from anybody getting in. I do not know for what reason he did that, but it should be a very good one.

The Project:
A little bird told me that the project had started a while ago, starting on par with the development of Persona. By now it should have reached quite advance stage of development process. There are news that says few clay models have been completed. The Chassis is ready now and structurul rigidity is still being fine tune to get better crash rating standard. The target product launch date is somewhere in the 1st quarter of 2009. So, we might see spyshots of this mpv on road test starting from Jun 2008 onwards.

The Engine:
There are few engine option under testing and consideration. One of it is the standard campro 1.6 cps engine, secondly, the supercharge campro 1.6 cps with added vvt mechanism and lastly the Mitsubishi 2.0 V6 engine currently used in the Perdana. For the first option, I think the CPS version might be able to pull the load with 2 or 3 passengers but for fully loaded and climbing hill? I don’t think so. From waja to the latest model, Proton is well known for its heavier chassis and body which contribute to its magnificent handling. The third engine option is too outdated already and more expensive in terms of maintenance. It’s not going to appeal to the targeted market. So I think the best choice would be the second engine. Why? Because it can deliver the best power to weight ratio at minimal price. As quoted by Si-Fu, one of the regular visitor to PT blog: “The system above, provides good consumption at low speed, good low end and high end torque and most importantly power only when u need it.

The Chassis:
The only choice proton would have is to start from the Waja Platform base. It was mention a long time ago that the Waja GX platform would spawn to many type of vehicles and one of it is an MPV. Based from the below data, The Chancellor platform is the best bet. This is also support the above statement regarding roomier cabin and storage space compared with the Wish. Waja w/base: 2600 mm Dim: 4465 x 1740 x 1420 (L x W x H) mm Chancellor w/base: 2850 mm Dim: 4715 x 1740 x 1420 mm Wish w/base: 2750 mm Dim: 4560 x 1695 x 1590 mm
The Interior:
The news says that the interior are going to get the utmost attention especially on quality and praticality. Seems that dark color theme will be chosen as this is the prefered color by most Malaysian. The Dashboard, central console & steering wheel design will be something fresh and totally new. There will an extra aircond blower for rear passengers and the third row seats will be able to fold flat, just like the persona’s. There will be lots of cups holders as most MPVs and also not forgetting grocery hooks. As a whole, the interior quality will be on par with the best of the Japanese makes.

The Exterior:
For the exterior design, it is said that the Toyota Wish is it’s primary benchmark. The new Honda Stream and Mazda 5 are also included. So expect the body curves to be as stylish as this three models but slightly longer as to give better space for last row sits and luggage area. The front face might be taking some cue from the Lotus APX but overall, from afar, somebody could mistake it for the Toyota Wish.
